Can't send photos from my iPad - baffled

Ok I am a pretty experienced Mac user and have had the iPad since day one. Maybe I'm missing something here but I cannot send a photo either through photo or copying the photo and pasting in mail.

The mail seems to go through as I hear the typical woos sound from mail as it is being sent. Problem is it's never received by the recipient. Even when I cc myself nothing.

I have tried different size photos so that's not it. I can't figure it out and it's getting frustrating. I was surprised to see no other topics on the matter so I must be missing something.

Just came across this question and although it's old, I found a solution that might be helpful. If I emailed photos from my ipad to myself, the emails did not appear in the In box on my laptop. However, they DID appear in my In box on my ipad. So what I did was I opened the emails on my ipad, forwarded them to myself, and they then appeared in my In box on my laptop. I don't know why this is, but I hope it helps someone.

I've got the same issue with all attachments. I can send/receive straight emails from the standard "Mail" program without any trouble at all but sending a pdf from Pages or a Photo and the email just disappears - I get the "whoosh-message-sent" sound but it never shows up in sent messages or the intended address. Seriously frustrating and I can't seem to find any other help related topics on it.

Hi CVhris,

Did you try and send photos this way:

Open Photos app, tap the album, if you have albums, tap the envelop with an arrow at the top right of the screen, then tap the photo(s) you want to send. Tap the Share button to create an email message.

You should be able to just paste in a pic in an open email, but I have done it with the above method with success.

Thanks for the reply Ralph... I have tried the following methods:

The method you mentioned - Opening the album and selecting the images marked with a check mark and selecting email.

Copy and paste method - copy the image and go to mail, paste into a mail message and send.

Opening the certain image and selecting "Email Photo"

None of the above mentioned methods have sent an actual message containing a picture or not. I am able to use mail as I do all the time with no problem. I have even tried sending messages with PDF attachments with no problem.

I'm wondering if this is a problem with the actual hardware? Strange I haven't seen any one else with a similar problem.

Chris, those are all supposed to be valid approaches. Do you have an Apple Retail Store close enough to drop by and have the genius bar folks check it out? What iOS are you using, 3.2.1 or 3.2.2? If it is a bug in the iOS download you have, you might try to reinstall that, or might want to wait until the iOS 4.2 release in November.

@Rjackrel - It sounds like you have the same problem... at least there is someone else experiencing this. I do not have pages therefore I haven't tried sending a PDF that way only forwarding from another email. I can't seem to send a PDF from IBooks I'm not sure if that is allowed.

I'm thinking of trying a Hard Reset on the device to see if that helps but I'm not sure what that would change.

Ralph, I have the most recent update installed and honestly this has been a problem even before I downloaded the update. I've just been dealing with it for some reason I don't know why. I am a hobby photographer and have over 5,000 photos on my IPad and it can be frustrating not being able to send any of them... I was thinking about waiting for the 4.2 release but I'll probably just take it in to the genius bar here this week. I'll report back if I do end up taking it in.

Thanks,
Chris
