Contacts lost on iPhone after syncing

I've noticed that my contacts haven't been syncing correctly for some time. I checked the advanced Sync contacts and when done, my contacts on the phone were gone. They are still on my computer.
So I did a restore and after the sync, still no contacts on my phone.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

MacBook Peo, Mac OS X (10.6.4), Iphone 4

With iTunes not running, launch iSync from your applications folder. Under preferences, select "Reset Sync History". Once finished, re-boot your computer, launch iTunes, connect your phone, select sync contacts & all contacts from Address Book. See if doing this fixes things. If it doesn't, post back.

I am having a similar problem. I am using Windows 7 and Outlook 2010. Recently I (since my last sync) I had added a new email account to Outlook, however all my contacts remained the same. Today I synced my iPhone 4 with iTunes and when it was done, all of my contacts had disappeared from Outlook and my iPhone and have been replaced with just three contacts that I had added (in my phone) this past weekend. How can this happen and how can I restore my contacts? I am desperate to get them back. I saw the post here about iSync but I don't know what that is. Please help!
