Java Virtual Machine & SPSS 18

Hi,

I'm getting the following error from SPSS 18.0.3 when I try to run descriptive statistics: Could not start Java Virtual Machine. Chart will not be drawn".

I need charts for my grad school assignment. I've never had this issue before, and since I've install the most recent patch, I think it must be an operating system error.

Any idea how to get SPSS to recognize/link up with JVM?

I have no idea how this works, so I need help!

Download patch 18.0.3.4 HotFix that include libspssjvm.dylib (you must have a serial number and a product identity.

* Confirm product release is 18.0.3. Go to the apple (upper left) and the next icon over “PASW Statistics 18” and then choose “About PASW Statistics 18”.
* After downloading the hotfix from the Technical Support Special website, extract the contents of the compressed file to your local desktop
* Make sure that all instances of Statistics 18 are closed
* Click on Finder > Applications > SPSSinc > PASWStatistics18
* In the Stats 18 folder, hold down the 'CONTROL' button of your keyboard and 'CLICK' on the PASWStatistics18.0.app icon. This will bring up a submenu with an option 'Show Package Contents'. Click on this option to bring up a new window.
* In the new window, navigate to: Contents > lib folder.
* Copy the downloaded hotfix file 'libspssjvm.dylib' to this /lib folder
* Restart Statistics 18.0 and your problem should now be resolved.
