I can't get my TV to play streaming Netflix movies from my iPad - any

I can't get my TV to play streaming Netflix movies from my iPad - the TV recocgnizes the iPad is attatched via an HDMI port but does not recognize any of the content (music, pictures, movies, etc.). I am currently attaching via the iPad/iPod cable directly into th HDMI port and use the TV input button to identify the port. Any suggestions? Thanks

I bought the VGA connector along with the HDMI cable. I can even play video games from my tv using my ipad as a controller, watch YouTube videos but the only thing I've been wanting to watch is a movie from Netflix but all I can see on my tv screen is NETFLIX and on my Ipad I press play movie then a Note pops up that says "The connected display is not supported". I have Netflix version 5.1.2(2073351). SDK version 2012.4 what do you think the problem is? Any help will be appreciated
