Safari showing prices in Euros, rather than dollars

I'm using Safari Version 5.0.2 (6533.18.5). Beginning with my latest upgrade (that may have been the latest security upgrade), Safari has been displaying all prices on web sites in Euros, rather than dollars. When I go to the same web site using Camino, the prices are shown (properly) in dollars. I can't find a Safari preference that will affect this behavior. Am I missing something?

Mac mini3.1, Mac OS X (10.6.4), Safari Version 5.0.2 (6533.18.5)

HI...

It means another account on your Mac.

If you've never created one, instructions here. Creating a new user account - Snow Leopard v10.6

Name the account Test, give it a password. That way you have test account set up for troubleshooting now and in the future. Very handy....

Hi

Have you any Safari extensions or other add-ons enabled ?

& let's completely exclude cookies... quit Safari, move the file Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist to the desktop & try again.

Hi

does http://whatsmyuseragent.com/ show a non-english (en) string ?
You can also see it in Safari-Develop-User Agent-Other

A New User Account behaves normally ?
if so, try removing cookies for the sites in question (or all of them) via Safari-Preferences-Security-Show Cookies.

Okay. Now I've gone to Safari-Preferences-Security-ShowCookies and removed them all. When I go to Amazon.com, prices start to show in dollars, but almost instantly are converted to Euros. In all sites a figure shown with a dollar sign followed by numbers is converted to Euros, but usually I don't get to see the conversion take place. That happens only with Amazon.com.

Okay. I created a new user account. Using that version of Safari I opened Amazon.com and the prices showed properly in dollars and cents. Then I went back to my regular account, and lo and behold! Amazon.com is now showing dollars and cents as dollars and cents, rather than Euros.

Would just logging out and then logging back in have done the same thing?

I guess I spoke too soon. Safari is back to displaying dollars as euros. I went back to my new Test identity, and it still shows dollars as dollars. This time I stayed in the Test mode for a longer time and tried several sites. All of them showed dollars as dollars.

Bingo! I had Safari Currency Converter installed. I uninstalled it, and now Amazon.com and MacMemory.com both show dollars as dollars. Many thanks for the tip.
