Epson Print Utility missing

I insatlled the latest Guten driver so I could use the automatic paper cutter. I did not realize I would loss the support for the utilities. Which I find utterly stupid. Why would they take that away?? Who wants a printer that they are unable to clean the heads on or check your ink levels???

I did a search and see that I have the Epson Print Utiliy folder in a previous sytem. Is this something I can use? I tried to copy it and drag it into the Libaray/Printer folder it did not work. How do I get it into the application folder where it belongs?

If I can use Pacifist to do this can someone instruct me on how to do that??

Thanks for any help on this.

If you look on the Gutenprint disk image, you will find a folder *Gutenprint Utility for EPSON Inkjet Printers*. Inside that folder you will find a text based utility for most utility functions along with some basic instructions. Unfortunately, this utility cannot report ink levels on OS X. It can, however, run a nozzle check, clean heads, and align heads for most Epson inkjet printers.

Another option that is mentioned by BDAqua is to do a custom install of the Epson drivers from your install disks. This will allow you to use the Epson utility if it supports your printer. You can still use the Gutenprint drivers even with the Epson drivers installed. You just can't use the Epson utility or drivers and the Gutenprint drivers at the same time.

I did the custom install, restarted and opened print utilities and it sat their scanning for a printer (yes the printer is on)??? does this utility have to run with a specific driver?

Did you add a printer using the Epson drivers? You may not want to use that printer to print, but it might be necessary to have a print queue with the Epson drivers established before the Utility will recognize it.

I would try the Gutenprint Utility but I am pretty sure it does not support the Epson Stylus Photo 2200.

Is there a basis for that statement? There are some Epson printers that do not work with the Gutenprint Epson Inkjet Printer Utility. Most will work, however.
