Im pretty sure its a hardware problem. I had opened the ipod and replaced the front facing camera.

when inspecting the camera that came out. It had quite a few burn spots on the peice that connects

the camera to the motherboard. Even after replacing the camera it still doesnt work. but im pretty

sure thats because there were also burn spots on the mb where it connects.

So, I went to my nearest Apple Store and a very king Genius did everything he could to determine if the issue was due to a software bug. He ended up finding that the issue was hardware related. I had 5 days left on the basic one year warranty so the Genius replaced the iPod free of charge. Toyworks11 seems to be correct. No matter what trick I employed the issue kept coming back. In the end it was a hardware problem.

Lets all form a group and complain until Apple corrects the problem. Chances are if they replace the iPod, you will again have the same proble.....been there done that. I hope yours keeps working...mine didn't when I got a new one after I broke the screen. We got a Lemon deal for sure. They should have named it the iLemon

to the all people who has problems with shutter of camera i suggest you to buy a new camera and install it in by yourself its easy to attach camera to motherboard but yeah its also tricky if you are opening screen first time just youtube it. you will need special tools to open it you will be done in 30$ not even 30$. I changed camera and it worked so i am suggesting you. I restored my itouch 18 times and didnt worked so finally i decided to change whole camera and it worked. i changed both of my camera front and back both. if you send it to apple they will charge 150$ plus hardware and camera is only 4$. good luck if you change camera but be careful with motherboard its so sensitive. I am apple expert so i know how to do this. AGAIN IF YOU DO SOMETHING WRONG ITS NOT PROBLEM I TELL YOU TO BE CAEFUL.

at Toyworks11 I am agree but its easy if you know that all have to be careful when you open display after you open display its only 5 minute work. But taking to apple expetrs takes a lot money but changing camera will solve your problem cause i changed my back camera and its working but front camera is stll not working. so i am sure that its hardware problem.

I have the same problem than all of you, I thought I had done something to it, but now I realize that it wasn't me, everyone is having the same problem with the camera, you can even look for videos on youtube, I'm starting to believe it's an IOS problem, I have more than a year with my ipod and this just started to happen to me like a week ago
