Help! iMac screen hurts my eyes!

Just upgrade from my macbook pro laptop to a 27" iMac. I love it but after even a few minutes of using it, my eyes begin to hurt. And when I look away from the computer, my vision is a little blurry. My eyes have been fatigued for a few days now because of this. I have perfect vision and never had trouble looking at computer screens before. I've tried adjusting the brightness, the display settings, changing the lighting in my office, everything!

Can anyone recommend a good solution for me? Maybe an aftermarket glare protector?

Thanks!
Fred

It could be because your eyes are straining to see the smaller fonts? If that is the case, have you tried taking down the resolution by one notch. I did that by going to System Preferences -> Displays and changing it to 1920 x 1080. That helped, but still wasn't quite enough for me, so I went to Finder -> View (top menu bar) and changed the text size to 14 (other choices are available). I also changed the minimum text sizes in my browsers, Mail, etc.

If you haven't tried any of those, give them a try and see if that helps.

Hello Fred

Welcome to Apple Support Communities

Before you buy plastic film or something to stick over your Display, there a are a couple of other free things that you should try first.

1. Shades > http://www.charcoaldesign.co.uk/shades
+Shades is also great if your working in a dimly lit room.+

2. Selecting and/or Calibrating a darker Display Profile.
