Just ran into this problem myself, it's like a vicious cycle. The iPad is telling me to connect to iTunes, and iTunes is telling me that it can not connect to the iPad till I unlock it, and being disabled doesn't allow you to enter in a passcode.

So I have done a force restore on the iPad. This is what I had to do

Hold down the home button and power button at the same time. This forces the screen to fade and the Apple Logo to reappear. Don't let go of the buttons until the iPad shuts off.

Once the iPad is off plug the usb cable into the computer.

Open iTunes

While holding down the Home button plug the cable into the iPad.

Contunue holding the home button until the you the itunes logo and the picture of the cable on the iPad screen. This may take up to 30seconds.

iTunes should now detect the iPad and you can perform a restore. Just follow the on screen instructions and it should restore.

Hopefully you have a recent back up.

You are able to restore the ipad with ANY PC or Mac computer, it does not need to be the original machine that you set the machine up with. All of your apps will not be available, but at least you will be able to get a base image (with no password) on the ipad and recover your apps through the app store.

I have had to do this as well, just like I stated above, do a force restore and attach to ANY PC or Mac with a current version of iTunes on it and go from there.

Also, if you have set up your iPad in iCloud for Find my iPhone, you could do a Remote Wipe, again it will erase the apps but should also remove the password.

PROV1NB excellent suggestion which i have tried. my ipad also said 'ipad disabled connect to itunes'. I tried connecting but itunes would say enter passcode onto ipad which i couldnt do because it was disabled. I followed your instructions and 'voila!!' its worked, itunes came up with the 'restore' option which allowed me to restore the ipad to its original settings and allowed me access to it as well. many thanks!!!
