Let me add that I went onto Apple Support and after 45 mins, they too could not do anything…Apple supervisor's suggestion was that maybe the Macbook pro that I was logged into was the issue and I needed to go to another computer and try…So I stumped a regular customer service rep and the Supervisor...

What happens when you connect it to your computer's iTunes, if it's not recognised have you tried the troubleshooting in the link in my post immediately above yours
