Recorded Video Format

Hello everyone,

I have seen that a video recorded with an iPhone is a .MOV file. Can anyone tell me if this is the only format in which videos are recorded?

Thanks.

3Gs, iPhone OS 3.1.3

.mov is not a format, it is a container. The format is determined by the codec used to create the video inside. All that the .mov file extension does is tell Mac OS X to open the file in QuickTime Player or a compatible application that has access to QuickTime components such as Final Cut Pro, iTunes etc.

Your PC using friends need to have QuickTime installed which they should have installed if they have iTunes installed, or they need a video viewing application available on their computer that has access to QuickTime components. Video captured by the iPhone should be an MP4.
