MacBook Air 11" Screen "Flicker" and Freeze

Hi everyone,

I ordered a MacBook Air 11" with 1.6 GHz, 4GB ram and 128GB SSD. Every so often while using it, the screen has a ton of weird colors in vertical lines (extends the whole display) and the entire laptop has frozen. I have to force it off with the power button and reboot it. It happens at random times. Is this a symptom of overheating perhaps?
I've done some research online and can't seem to find anyone else experiencing the same issue so I'm thinking I got a bad apple. (;

Before I take it in or send it in, I'm more or less wondering if someone knows what I'm talking about, like having happened on another model Mac and knows if it's due to overheating or something. Thanks!

11in fully upgraded early 2013 machine -- same problem. Screen goes snow, black, snow, flickers sometimes to black. At times I have to sit and wait, sometimes minutes where I give up, unplug "thunderbolt" and work on the 11in screen.

I purchased this machine to be able to work remotley and setup a desk station at home. This defect is more than a nusance. I will not be purchasing another Mac in the future. As for this one -- converting it to Linux Ubuntu as we speak. (and as the screen continues to flicker black!).

I purchased 13" Mac Air for my wife thinking it might be time to switch all machines (desktop and 11" for my travels) to Macs. I was within days of purchasing a 27" desktop as well as another Mac Air for myself when her's crashed-totally disabled. It seems that Apple has had these hardware issues for a while and have not resolved the issues. Even though I have owned 2 Microns and 3 Dell computers without issue, I realize that sometimes "stuff happens" and can overlook issues if they are resolved in a timely manner. The Apple support has been terrible! At the national level, they say it is a local store issue; the local store says there is nothing they can do except order new hardware, which they have done. Parts should arrive within a month-maybe. In the mean time, no computer. PC's may not be so glitzy-but, they work. That was close.

Wondering if anyone is still experiencing this problem? I am kind of wondering if this is a incompatibility between the video technology in the MBA and the technology in order displays. I am seeing is in some cases where I need to hook up to a computer projector, but not seeing this when connecting to large flat panel conference room displays.
