Apple Cinema Displays for radiology use -- acceptable resoultion?

Is anyone out there using either the Apple 23" HD or 30" Cinema display for teleradiology? Is the grayscale resolution acceptable for soft-copy readings? Are there any good links for Mac users for radiology imaging? thanks

I've been wondering the same thing... UCLA and others are using Macs with Cinema displays for radiology. Take a look at OsiriX (link below). I am a little concerned, however, about reports of dancing pixels, etc. The resolution is just below that specified as "diagnostic quality" by RSNA. It would be great if Apple would come out with an affordable diagnostic quality display. I think we'd buy a stack of them.

I use the 30 inch display with a HP workstation to run Images-on-Call software and our Amicas PACs through a VPN. I think the color display is fine for CT/MR/US, but does not have the brightness for final reads for plain films. No color monitor has the brightness that the ACR recommends from what I could find. I went to a lot of vendors at the RSNA this last November and the brightest color display I could find was 330 cd/m2 and that "medical grade" monitor was $10,000 list. The 30" apple is 270 cd/m2 for a lot less money. Check the ACR website for the brightness they recommend, but most B/W monitors are over 600cd/m2
