Hi guys!!!
I've the same noise problem with my MA 13" late 2010!!!
What can we do????
Steve please solve it!!!
Hello. After installing this Lion, the fan of my MBA 2009, constantly sounding very loud. How many users of MBA have this problem? ALL OF US. Please someone of apple take care of us, and give us a solution soon as possible...
Same here, the fan goes crazy even when I'm just checking the email. My sister thinks this is why is called "Mac book air".
my 2011 macbook air has the same problem.
the fan is very noisy and over 5000 rpm...
my macbook air is very hot....
Apple please fix this problem as soon as possible!!!
cusotmers paid a high price for a macbook air and you should ensure your products' quality!!!
9 years with Dell and never a single issue. First time to buy an Apple, the MacBook Air. Why? Great performance, ultralight form factor, sexy system, features of Lion OS, lightweight benefit with travel, etc, etc.
Day 1 - purchased i5/128gb/13" MacBook Air. Love it
Day 3 - returned due to super-loud fan noise. Only Chrome downloaded. Running Netflix which required Silverlight, too. After 2-5 minutes of film, fans kick to 6496rpm. I couldn't even hear myself think. My wife looked across the room with a "where is that noise coming from" comment.
Genius bar tried a SMC reboot. No change. Took home to give a second chance. Same problems.
Day 4 - exchanged new MacBook Air for new #2.
Day 4 - fired up the second new system. Same issue. Hot system, very loud fan, annoying.
Willing to troubleshoot. Looking for suggestions. Assuming it's due to incredibly-small size, powerful OS, SSDs and what looks like very little ventilation to move heat off the CPU. 'Sense' this becoming a bigger issue for Apple.
Am having the exact problem. Very irritating. Need a solution asap.
Did the same, just banged it around the top left corner and the clicking sound stopped.
Thanks
i bought the macbook air on 2xth of july.
Day1: without any serious testing, perfect
Day2: the fan was going crazy. I told myself i installed something wrongly.
Day 3 onwards, i was too busy at working. So, i just put it aside.
Day 27: tested it again. The fan was still on fire while i was watching youtube. I told myself it was because of the buggy flash. Okay, i tolerated it. I could use HTML5 player to "cool down" the fan even though it provided poorer video quality. I still tolerated it.
Day 36 (Today): I just find out that the fan still goes mad even when i watch normal mp4 video using Quicktime player.
I swear I have never touched "Flash" or anything else.
Macbook air is my first mac. I was really amazed by it when i first received it.
Everyone says that Mac is perfect.
I am sorry. I feel very disappointed with it.
It does not worth $1299. My old Acer 11in notebook which only cost $576 is much better than it.
My friend planned to buy a macbook air.
I just stopped him.
You will regret after you receive the product. When you paid a very high price for it but you wouldn't get the product you should deserve.
Just because you have the problem, it doesn't mean everybody has it.
My Macbook Air is running fine, fan never kicks in (at least you cannot hear it at all).
It only only starts to get a little noizy when running 3D applications.
Since probably still is in the warranty phase you should let Apple check on it.
I have noticed that with flash, my fan runs at 6200rpm. After trying to figure everyhting out, i realized it was only when i was on websites with flash advertisments that my fan would get stuck at a high speed whether i quit safari or not. I just uninstalled flash and its running great. Around 2400rpm. Now, how i get flash player back to not tripping my fan up i dont know ? Maybe a reinstall will fix it, but ive spent the better part of 5 hours investigating this, and it fixed it.
I wouldn't call deinstalling flash a "fix".... I need my flash support.
What i do when the fan gets louder on websites, is to right click the ad and select "stop download" when it's available, that works quite well.
I installed the latest version of Flash from Adobe website directly and it seems to be making a huge difference...
I had just the opposite experience. After I installed the latest version of Flash (10.3.183.7), my fan started running every time I was in a browser session. I uninstalled and reinstalled an earlier version, and the overheating stopped.
Just a temp fix to keep the fan from geeking out. Gshall suggested running an older version of Flash, im going to give that a shot. I did not know you could disable adds, thats good to here.
Awesome, i installed a earlier version of flash, and its all great ! Even running flash video's im kicking at 5400rpm fan speed. And it cools off after i stop.
