My iTunes 10 cover flow broke. Yes, broke...anyone else have this issue?

For some reason, after I installed the most recent security update for 10.6.4, my cover flow view option on my Purchases playlist (no other playlist...just "Purchaes") is...gone.

The top portion with the volume control, the center portion with the song title, artist, status, etc, the view buttons and search box are all gone. It's all absent. I've uninstalled and re-downloaded iTunes and it's still broke.

It's not a major issue, but I'd really like to know if anyone else out there had this happen to them. My iMac with the same OS & updates has nothing wrong with it, so maybe it's a glitch?? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Here's a link to the screenshot...

Hey Guys

I have had this same issue for quite sometime, was hoping that the latest update this week would sort it out it didn't. Was hoping you guys had some luck.

Was just working when it happened.

Macbook Pro 17" Core i5 (4gb Ram) (Mac Os 10.6.5)
itumes Plugins running - GimmeSomeTune Version 4.2.1 (2950)

Would be great to get this sorted without re-installing and to know what causaed it. (I am lazy like that:-)

hey guys! so this is happening to me too, and i came to the conclusion that file "itunes library" under the itunes folder might be corrupted.

im working with a windows computer of course, i dont know if theres a file called itunes library on macs. but any way i figure this out because i thought that my computer was completely broke and my itunes wasnt working properly because if it, so i saved all my music on a different computer and went ahead on re-installing windows 7 on my computer (4 hour process because of all the drivers u have to get) so once all was done, i downloaded itunes and i put 2 songs that you get with windows 7 and the cover flow on itunes was back to normal, boy was i happy so i brought the itunes folder thet i back up back to my freshly installed OS and sure enough the cover flow looked broke again.

the fix would be to delete the entire itunes folder and delete itunes (when u uninstall itunes, the itunes fold stays there and doesnt get deleted, so when i install itunes, the folder is already there) so with that being said, if your like me that spend a whole week fixing each of my 2800 + tracks on my itunes (name, artist, art cover on which the song was released and year the song was releaded) i suggest dealing with it cuz once the itunes library file is gone, that means that all the work i put in would be in vain.

i truly believe that itunes people wont come up with a fix and an itunes update wont do the trick.

i might try some things, if it works ill let you guys what to do. cheer!

Before you do anything, make sure ur ipod has all ur music and videos because theres a tool called sharepod that allows you transfer your ipod music to ur computer in case u delete your music.

ok guys so i've been doing some research and the new itunes has a feature "home sharing" and let me tell you, this might be the only fix!

u need another computer of course, a computer that doesn't have itunes.
u want to install a new copy of itunes on the computer that DOESNT have your music. once installed check to see if the itunes folder (under ur music folder) is empty. if not just delete the folder. if you open itunes on the new computer on the left side u will notice something that says home sharing... on the computer that HAS your music (the one with the cover flow problem) enable home sharing, (i think you can do this on either one of the computers) set a password and everything, once created go back to ur other computer and u should see the name of the other computer, click on it and import all your music once thats done, uninstall the "broken itunes" and delete the itunes folder too, start a fresh install of itunes, when done u should see home sharing and the name of the computer where all ur music was transfered so just transfer it back.

so in another words:

1) share it to another computer that has a fresh installed itunes with the itunes folder empty.

2) make sure the new computer has all of ur music in it.

3) delete itunes and the itunes folder on the computer that the cover flow was broken.

4) install it again and using home sharing transfer ur music back.

all of the info of the music remained the same, i just had to do "find album cover" on all of the songs and now everything is back to normal. becareful when ur doing this because u dont want to delete all of ur music, specially when u have 2897 songs, yes i know, i added a few more songs =)
