My new iphone 4 will not rotate to landscape mode anymore!

Dear All,

I have been using my new iphone 4 for more than 1 month without any problems at all. Since Saturday morning, though, I have been experiencing this issue: my iphone does not rotate its screen anymore, basically the display does not go into landscape mode anymore. This issue happens with any application (pictures, safari, or ipod).
I would like to let you know that I tried the following:

1)Turning off and on my iphone several times
2)"Reset All Settings" from the Settings>General>Reset menu
3)Checking the “rotation lock” button and it is off (unlocked)
4)Testing the calculator application and only the standard calculator will appear, by rotating the iphone to landscape mode the scientific calculator will not appear.

I am thinking the accelerometer might be broken. By the way, it has never fallen to ground or anything similar.

I would appreciate if someone could help me out as I am very struggling with it!

Yes I tried that and it looks like it is not working properly...I believe the accelorpmeter is gone:(

This definitely worked for me I had the same problem on my 3GS there was a lock symbol next to the battery usage, I had no idea what was locked. After reading this thread about the landscape orientation, which my phone was not doing landscape anymore either and I decided to do this and see if it worked also removed the lock symbol next to the battery usage.

@kaz1 - you are a beast! Thank you so much! I had no idea that was there. I also noticed the rotate/lock icon at the top of my screen and was wondering what it meant. I had no clue. Thanks now I can finally view in landscape mode again. I must have accidentally bumped it somehow.

Bingo! That was my problem. Thanks for the quick fix!! (songs just started playing and I wanted to shut the @)#*$@# OFF. I hit portrait lock by mistake)
