macbook air or macbook pro

High, right now i have the white macbook(not unibody) and it is starting to show its age. I am either going to get the 13 inch macbook pro(entry level) or the 13 inch macbook air(entry level for 13 inch). I love the lightweight and sleek design but I think I will get more out of the macbook pro for my money. I would try the macbook air out because there is a 14 day return policy but there is a 10% restocking fee which is a little over 100 dollars so I want to get the right choice first. Any advice?

I was also considering the MBP over the air because you get more storage for less money and there are user replaceable parts inside. I went with the 13" MBA because of how light, quiet, low operating temperature and blazing fast speed it has. I bought the SuperDrive only to install iWork as I didn't want anybody else to unbox and fiddle with my first and new Mac but me. I've used it to watch a movie or two and it is also silent and cool running. Seamless.

There are many people with a slow, bulky, heavy, loud and hot laptop. Don't be one of them. Go with the MBA. You will be so pleased...

The answers on this discussion have been well rounded, both the MBP and the MBA are great laptops in comparison with Windows based laptops on the market, the MBP is more value for money in terms of speed but the MBA makes up in portability.

True the backlit keyboard in the MBA and having a built in Ethernet Port would have made it perfect but Steve needs you to buy a newer model next year.

The MBP is my primary PC with Windows 7, it is less efficient than OSX 10.6 with battery lasting no more than 3.5 hours but we still rely on Windows based applications.

Conclusion: the MBA 13" would have been the ultimate portable laptop if not for the lack in backlit keyboard and no Ethernet Port.
