No network connection in iPhoto

Just trying to order a calendar for the first time and everything works fine until I press the 'Buy' button whereupon iPhoto announces:-

"A connection could not be established at this time. Please ensure your network connection is active and try again."

Internet, email and this chat seems to work OK so I'm not sure what's wrong. My version of iPhoto 08 is 7.1.5

Thanks

Hi,

I am having the same problem. My iPhoto 11 (9.2.1(628)) will share once then lost connection. Sometimes, I cannot email, upload to Facebook / Flickr, everything is greyed out. But sometimes, I can email but not to upload to Facebook etc.

I had been using the quit and relaunch method but I am very frustrated.

I noticed that many of use used this reset PRAM method. I like to try that but I don't know which key is the PR key.

I have a MacBook Pro (i7 8G).

Can you please kindly spell the name of this PR key?

Sorry about my ignorance. Thanks.

btw, is this a bug? Does Apple know about this? Will they fix it?

sungyle - here is a link to the Apple support website. It is not a PR key, but the "p & r" keys along with the Command and Option Key.

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

Important: If your computer does not retain parameter RAM (PRAM) settings when it is turned off, this generally indicates that the battery needs to be changed. Refer to Macintosh Family: Batteries and Part Numbers.

Resetting PRAM and NVRAM

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
  5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
  6. Release the keys.

Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models.

I had the same issues getting the error message "A connection could not be established at this time. Please ensure your network connection is active and try again."

These are the steps I took to resolve it.

  1. I went to http://store.apple.com/us/account/home and modified my account address (added a . after Blvd in my address) and also turned off then on the express checkout.
  2. Closed my iPhoto '09 and reopened it.

I was having the same problem (iPhoto reported "no network connection"). For me the problem turned out to be the firewall settings.

1. Go to Apple Menu>System Preferences.

2. Click "Security & Privacy".

3. Click the "Firewall" tab.

4. In order to make changes here, you may have to click the lock in the lower left corner and authenticate using the user name and password for your computer.

5. Then either turn off the firewall completely by clicking the "Stop" button or:

6. Click the "Advanced" button in the lower right.

7. Click the "+" button.

8. Select iPhoto and click "Add".

9. In the pop-up menu next to iPhoto make sure that "Allow incoming connections" is selected.

10. Click "OK".

11. Quit System Preferences.

12. Quit and relaunch iPhoto.

Problem solved.

Had this problem with a macbook pro retina and tried everything suggested (including PRAM reset) in this forum but nothing fixed the issue. However, after we changed DNS server in Network Settings from using the router address for DNS (in our case 192.168.1.1) to any other public DNS server (verizon at 4.2.2.2, google at 8.8.8.8, etc), iPhoto sharing features immediately started working again. Hope this helps!
