iPhone 4 Contacts Disappeared After Receiving Text Message

Exactly the same on my wife's iPhone 4. iOS 5.1.1. All contacts were supposedly to be synced to iCloud as well. Not impressed Apple. Not impressed.

That's at least 3 people including myself that had recently uploaded Facebook that it happened to.

The only choices I have under "Contacts" are Sort Order, Display Order and My Info.

Oh well, must of been added in iOS 6.

I have a solution...

Look for "Dump Apple" on Facebook, if we get too many likes we might get to do something about it.

And you're all running iOS 5.1.1

Perhaps, just maybe, an update would be a good place to start.

No, Rory. I have 6.1.2 and it isn't like that. Thanks for the advice though, I had a glimmer of hope there for a second ;)

I updated to 6.1.2 but my contacts are still missing.

This is a cheap attempt by Apple to push its iPhone 5 sales.

NAL11, I just tried that and no luck for me.

Same story... iOS 5.1.1, received a text message I couldn't open, restarted the phone, and every last contact was missing.

TOTALLY SAME STORY. THE FB UPDATE JUST MAKE THE PHONE WORSE. WHAT DAFUQ APPLE?

And def NOT downloading and using more of apple crap like icloud and ithis and ithat to "keep" my contacts. RIDICULOUS!!!!!

While synching and backup are not the same. Synching does create a backup of the phone at that point in time.

I can back up without synching but I can't synch without backing up.

I should also mentioned that we also upgraded her ios from 5.1 to 6.1 - I didn't expect it to work based on other posts in this thread but figured it was a good excuse to get her up to date.
