How many MB does Mac OS 10.6.5 has?

Hello,

Software update window pop out today and I notice the 10.6.5 update! Great, but before to install it I decided to surf the web to gather information about it. I notice that there are 10.6.5 updates which are different in size. Is it normal?

Mine here shows 487MB, this one ( http://macmais.terra.com.br/noticias/apple-lanca-o-mac-os-x-10-6-5/) shows 680.1MB and the combo ( http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1324) shows 977.21MB.

Also, I have notice that they show different lists of what Apple say as important bug fixes. Should I install the 977.21MB's combo (with 12 bug fixes) or 487MB update which pop out here (with 5 bug fixes) or one with 680.1MB (with 10 bug fixes)?

Different numbers of bug fixes for only one system?!? I am lost here.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks in advance,

LabZen

+Please, where in Apple site there is the information regarding 10.6.5 update file sizes, including one of 487MB.+

Both I and now also baltwo have been explaining:

You will not find that file size anywhere because Software Update tailor-made it for your machines automatically.

I was just waiting you to say that. What 's behind the scene is:

a) why do suggest people to install the combo if they can do it with SU using a smaller file size?
b) SU exists to take care of mac computer's system and for your freedom to choose what you wanna update or not.
c) when you install combos, specially this one, it cames with safari 5 and may be with other stuff (why download it again).
d) before updating the system, make sure all run software update regularly.

This is a good question and elsewhere here somebody wrote something like what would be more important system updates or security update.

Thank you about your concern to make me understand this update of Mac OS X.

a) because it is a more complete package and usually avoids possible install problems

b) agreed

c) it won't install anything it doesn't need

d) agreed, but has nothing to do with the subject here)

e) sorry, but I give up. I have tried to help and explain things in various ways; yet you find fault with and have arguments against all of it. Best of luck.

a) take in mind that Software Update checks your system and SU would decide the best file size.

c) the biggest combo sure will reinstall Safari 5

d) why install combos if Software Update regularly updates everything

It is not a question of agree or disagree with. I would like to know if my Mac will be safe even installing a smaller file update file. The 10.6.5 may be one having the most important security update.

Thank you anyway.
