Verizon ipad sim card?

does anyone know if the verizon ipad has a sim card slot? i'd hate to buy it and find out it doesn't as it would be nice if i could use it with an at&t sim.

Although the SIM cards are physically the same, I do not recommend and I do not think you can put your iPhone SIM card in your iPad. It would also be a waste as your iPhone SIM is provisioned with Messaging and Telephony that the iPad can not use. I would also be concerned with it possibly showing as a change in your service on AT&T's systems and causing you to loose your unlimited data plan on your iPhone if you are still lucky enough to have it.

So, although it is possible to put the SIM into the device, I would strongly caution against it.

I have the WiFi / 3G iPad, bought it directly from Apple, and I love it. You are correct that you will most likely use the WiFi capability most of the time. I do, and I do not doubt that others do as well. I use the 3G when I am in a place where I do not have a secure WiFi network to connect to (like the bus / train ride to and from work each day)

Although the Verizon bundle does allow Verizon to sell the WiFi only version of the iPad and possibly get them some more customers for their MiFi access points, I would just get the WiFi / 3G one from Apple. What I would wait to see is an LTE based iPad in the future. LTE promises to allow companies like Apple to make one device to the LTE standards (for data comm anyway) and sell that device through any carrier supporting LTE. NOTE: Both AT&T and Verizon have stated support for and are currenly building their LTE networks. Expect to see LTE become a big thing in late 2011 and early 2012. Unfortunately, it will not be until we see LTE Advanced that we will see a combined iPhone. LTE does not contain standards for voice communications, but LTE Advanced does.

I ended up buying the AT&T 3G and It does work with the iPhone sim card though I don't plan on using it much. I realized that I could use my Droid X as a hotspot if I'm someplace where AT&T coverage is not that good so now I have the best of both worlds!
I'm very happy with this setup and I'm glad that I asked questions here first. So, once again, thanks for all the input.

Does the Incredible act as a hotspot for an iPad...

I think that question is better asked on an android or HTC forum. If the Incredible can act as a hotspot then the iPad can connect through it, same as using any wifi hotspot.

A quick Google search for incredible htc wifi hotspot results in this and much more info.
"A major talking point for smartphones these days (at least for the Verizon Palm Pre Plus and the Sprint Evo 4G) is the ability to act as a WiFi hot spot, sharing the phone's 3G (or 4G, for the Evo) connection with other devices. The Incredible doesn't do that (so far as we know), but it does allow you to use Verizon's Mobile Broadband Connect service, tethering your phone to your computer via USB. At the time of this writing, the service costs either $15 or $30 a month, depending on your current data plan."

So contact the cell provider or look up the specs for the HTC incredible.
