10.1 refuses to play videos I purchased on iTunes - why?

I am having a similar problem -- I was forced to download 10.4 (80) yesterday so that I could purchase a movie, and now none of my earlier purchased videos will view. There is just a black screen and no sound. Can anyone help?
had the same issues with 10.4, it ended up with my apple id being locked for some reason.
