My wife has a Facebook account and this morning uploaded photos from her camera into iPhoto '11. Then she deleted the ones she did not like and edited those she kept. She then highlighted them all. Clicked Share and Facebook and then iPhoto started popping up messages saying that past Facebook albums have been removed. The only way to stop this was to force quit. She has lost about 15 albums.

I restored my whole system from Time Machine and reverted back to iPhoto '09. The Facebook albums are still lost but the rest of the program seems to be running fine.

Can anyone offer any help or advice? Why is this happening?

I upgraded today(Nov 22) so that issues like this would already be be cleaned up. however I am suffering form exactly the same issue. iPhoto 11 is trying to delete albums from Facebook and the only way to stop it is to force quit. I will change my Facebook password next to try to reset it. If anyone has a better solution please post it up!

Did changing the Facebook password work? I had my system backed up, so I just used Time Machine to restore the entire system to the day before I upgraded to iPhoto and I am back using iPhoto '09. I will not upgrade to '11 until I know this is fixed. I also do not like the new way it handles emailing pictures.

A very disappointing upgrade from Apple.

Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

Sorry to see no one has a solutions yet. I sent feedback to Apple. Maybe that is all we can do.

    Here the link.

I too changed my wife's Facebook password hoping to snap iPhoto '11 back to its senses. However, after iPhoto had me enter the new Facebook password and it logged into Facebook, the same error message returned.

It reads: The published album "Rainbow" has been removed from Facebook (thankfully it has not). It goes on, "The album will be removed from the Facebook section. The photos it contained are still in your iPhoto Library".

If you have a fix PLEASE let us know ASAP!!!

This is driving me insane, you can't even delete your facebook account from iPhoto as that also deletes all you photo's on facebook. I'm at the point where I can't use Iphoto anymore.

I am having the same problems as everyone & am going to do what Thom has done & use Time Machine to restore my Macbook Pro to before I installed iLife 11.

I followed all the advice from the Apple Store about installing ILife 11 - I backed up on Time Machine, Installed iLife 11, then did a software update before opening any iLife programs. I have double checked & find that there are no other updates available.

The problems I am having with iPhoto 11 are:-

    1. My Facebook albums are being deleted & the only way to stop this happening is to Force Quit. iPhoto.
    2. There is no longer a list of all my Facebook & Mobile me albums in the left hand side folder list, so I am unable to drag more photos into the albums.
    3. Some of my mobile me galleries have been changed & photos deleted or in the wrong albums.
    4. When emailing photos, there is only the photo templates available to use. Trying to save a photo from the template in the received email is impossible - you only seem to be able to save the whole template. Is there a way of sending multiple photos in a chosen size without the template as in iPhoto 09?

iPhoto 11 is driving me crazy - I daren't even look at iMovie as I dread to think what has happened to that!! I much prefer iPhoto 09!!

Do you think that I can get a refund for iLife 11 if I take it back to the Apple Store?

Off to restore my Macbook & be rid of iLife 11!!

I thought this would be easy - but obviously not, unless I am being dim!

I need to remove iPhoto 11 & retore iPhoto 09 without loosing my photos. I have Time Machine & backed up just before installing iPhoto 11. I have looked at Time Machine & can't work out how to restore the application to a previous date. Can anyone help!

Unfortunately, the only way to restore it is to do a full restore. Put in your Snow Leopard disk and restart your Mac holding down the "C" key. You should have your TimeMachine backup drive plugged in. When the computer restarts, go to Utilities in the menubar and click on restore from Time Machine.
(This is from memory, I don't think I left out anything.)

It will restore your whole system. Mine took about 2 and a half hours with 140 GB to restore. Not the advice you probably wanted to hear, but as far as I know the only way to restore iPhoto.

I followed the same steps as you when loading iPhoto '11. And we both had the same problems.

    Good luck getting a refund.

I have not noticed any problems with the other iLife apps. They seem to work fine.

    Thanks Thom

I intend to get this sorted out next week when I have some time. I will let you know how I get on.

I am very disappointed with Apple for releasing an upgrade without testing it properly first. I have always trusted everything Apple - but will be a little more careful next time!!

OK, I have had some success with resolving this particular problem.
*Step 1:* I quit out of iPhoto 11 and went to my FaceBook account. Under the Account tab, menu item account settings, you can change your password.
*Step 2:* After changing your FaceBook password, open iPhoto 11. Click on the FaceBook icon. You will get an error message, just cancel out of it.
*Step 3:* Delete every FaceBook album. (This may take a degree of faith Its not really deleting them from FaceBook as long as you are not connected to FaceBook from iPhoto.
*Step 4:* Open iPhoto preferences go to accounts and click on your facebook account. Enter your new password. This will reconnect you to Facebook. Your FaceBook photo albums will rebuild and download to your iPhoto program. Life will be cool again

This worked for me. Hopefully you too.

Additionally if you wanted to try to change your FaceBook password back again I don't see why that wouldn't work as well. The important thing is deleting the current albums displayed in iPhoto without being connected to FaceBook.
