Guys, good news !!!
Apple is finally starting a replacement program for the hard drive cable of the Apple MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2012.
It isn't officially announced yet, but I was on the phone with Apple Support Germany and they confirmed it exists since June 2016.
Here is the original source of the information (German, Google Translate):
"Apple authorizes a free replacement of the hard drive cable until three-years after the original purchase date or until June 10, 2017"
So, I suggest you give your Apple Support a call and ask for a replacement. Keep in mind it is just for the Apple MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2012 and no other device. The technicians might not know about this program, as it isn't officially announced yet, but they have it somewhere in the system and otherwise their supervisor should know more.
I can confirm that. I'm getting my cable replaced today for free under this program.
Replace the HDD interconnect ribbon
So, 8 years after this started to be an issue, they're finally offering something? How kind of them.
2012 + 8 is not this year, not even next year.
Calm down, it did not and could not destroy the drive, you are just being silly now.
The cable did not change either.
Try again if you wish to.
You are posting nonsense.
Why not hire a lawyer and sue Apple for this calumny.
I don't agree with you.
I disagree with every part of your post. As you can't add 8 to 12 and get a correct answer I doubt any and everything you post.
Use the right part, the 2009 part.
Your MacBook is "vintage." Officially, no one at Apple should be providing any support to you.
No harm in going to a Genius Bar & seeing what happens. Good luck.
I replaced hard drive cable. And after it I duct tape the macbook like this:
It still works!
Fit whichever one floats your boat.
So, you were told that your problem could be fixed by replacing the SATA cable, and you said no.
What is the question?
