iPad won't download age-restricted material from App Store

For some reason, when I either try to download new apps or update existing apps that are designated "age-restricted material" on the iPad, I get an error message that simply says 'Cannot Connect to iTunes Store."

Has anyone else been experiencing this issue, and if so, how did you fix it? Thanks in advance for your help!

I had this problem as well. Found an answer to fix this on iPhone discussion board.

The way to fix this issue is:

1) in the iPad go to Settings/Store and Sign out from Apple ID.

2) Go to App store and click to download the app that you couldn't download before.

3) App store now asks for your Apple ID. Click on 'Use Existing Apple ID' and type in your name & password.

Voila!

Yes...I have the same VERY frustrating problem as well!

Ever since I've updated my iPad to the very latest version a few days ago.

One exmple of an application that I had installed on my iPad and never had an issue updating until recently was the Atomic Web Browser app.

When I attempted to update it (along with a few other 'age restricted' apps) right after the latest iOS update I got the age restriction pop-up notification and clicked the 'Ok' button confirming I am at least 17 years old then immediately got the 'Unable to connect to iTunes...please try again later' messasge!

But...I knew it wasn't an iTunes store issue because my iPad was updating all my other non 'age restricted' apps immediately before and after I attempted to update the age restricted ones.

This happens to ALL of my age restricted apps but all other apps update and install fine.

Interestingly...these same age-restricted apps install and update fine on my 4th generation iPod!

So...this IS AN iPad issue and Apple better resolve this soon!

As a follow-up to my previous post: I sent in a support request to the iTunes store. After a few days they replied. They recommended I contact Apple Care since it was an iPad issue. I called Apple Care and my phone support had expired and I don't have the extended support plan so it was going to cost me $29. The guy was kind enough to listen to my problem before he tried to charge me and basically said that he had no solution for me.

So it was back to the drawing board and my own ideas on how to fix or workaround this issue. My workaround which did work was to download the content on the PC with iTunes that the iPad is synched with and then synch with the iPad to transfer the updated or newly purchased "age-restricted" content. It's not perfect but it works for now until Apple figures out what's wrong.

Only thing I have not tried (and I don't want to go there) is to completely wipe and restore the iPad

Seeing this problem as well, identical to how drew66 described. All other apps download and install just fine, except anything that is marked as "Age Restricted".

Hard-boot, normal reset, enabling restrictions with various settings etc. have had no effect. After clicking "Ok" button, it immediately returns popup with "'Unable to connect to iTunes".

Workaround stated in this thread of using PC to load the apps appears to be the only solution for now until it's fixed.

What are the Parental settings in iTunes for the computer with which you are syncing ?

To me it does not seem sensible to have the Parental Controls 'on' in the iTunes source computer and then be able to just ignore them by buying anything direct with the synced device.

It would be kind of logical to have the iTunes store on the computer as the 'master' decision maker and the device to do as its told.

How are your Parental settings set in iTunes on the computer ?
