I recently purchased the iPad camera connection kit for an event coming up, when I tried to use the SD card reader on my iPad, nothing happen. I then tried it out on my moms iPad running iOS 3.2 and it works fine... Anyone else having issues with iOS4.2 and the camera connection kit?
Very nice words, Miguel, but totally mis-placed ...
FEEDBACK
If you wish to raise issues with or suggest changes to Apple, then you need to talk to them directly. These forums, strictly user-user and for technical support issues, are not an avenue for that. Use the feedback forms set up for the various hardware and software packages:
I've passed on my feedback. Nevertheless, I see room in this forum for expounding on these issues as people get to exchange views on why or why not a particular issue is important. If the forum got stuck in a dead-end argument on the issue at the expense of constructive communication between users then I would concede the point, but I don't that's the case. I think it's fair to raise the issue among ones' colleagues as well as directly to Apple.
You can get as "Chatty Kathy" as you want to, consistent with the TOU of these forums. As I understand what you're trying to say, though, you're going to be running afoul of several parts of them almost immediately.
These are set up to be technical support forums, and relatively narrow-focused ones, not general chat. If you find problems with that, and want a personal soapbox unhindered by Apple's rules and restrictions, well ... get a blog.
I have 4.2 on my iPad and use the camera connection kit with no problems whatsoever. Back up the contents of the SD card, then format the SD card in the camera it will be used in, take some pictures and then try the SD card again in the camera connection kit. Also copy the pictures you have backed up (prior to formatting the card) and put them back onto the SD card and see if you can read them.
Problems can sometimes be caused by, incorrect format type on the SD card, incorrect folder structure on the card.
Try and borrow a different SD card to try in the camera connection kit to see if this makes any difference.
It is totally untrue for some on here to say that the camera connection kit does not work with 4.2 iOS. I and expect many others have it working with no problems. Admittedly some people cannot get it to work with iOS 4.2, but this is by no means a total incompatibility with iOS 4.2.
Apple Discussions Use Agreement, section 2, point 3: Post constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer. Constructive feedback about product features is welcome as well. If your Submission contains the phrase “I’m sorry for the rant, but…” you are likely in violation of this policy.
Let's not hijack this topic any further and get back to the Camera Connection Kit and iOS 4.2.
You think you're going to impress me by quoting the TOU? Seriously? I notice you quoted only the part which you felt supported what you think you're doing, however, and decided to omit that which didn't:
+Stay on topic. Apple Discussions is here to help people use Apple products and technologies more effectively. Unless otherwise noted, do not add Submissions about nontechnical topics, including:+
+Speculations or rumors about unannounced products.+
+*Discussions of Apple policies or procedures or speculation on Apple decisions*.+
Which is what you're doing and, I assume, asking others to do also.
+Post
constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Submission should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer.

The term
constructive, as used here, means something which will materially aid a fellow user in answering a question, solving a problem, or understanding a process or product. It specifically excludes feedback to Apple about what they should and should not be doing, which comments are handled in the separate Feedback process, and any other comments, criticisms, or suggestions such as those already proscribed above.
+Do not post polls or petitions or links to same.+
Either you are inviting a "Let's all have a chat about what we think Apple should do ...", which is functionally a petition, or you're saying "Let me tell you what I think of what they're doing or should be doing .." which, while well-written and interesting, fails the constructive test and is, as I already pointed out, mis-placed here.
As for your snarky little "... can we just get back to the CCK and 4.2 ..." closer, I'll just close by saying that so far you've spent no time on either of them at all.
