I've had my iPod touch for 4 months now and I just started having issues with it freezing. It will turn on using the top button, it will unlock using the slide, but then it's frozen on whatever application I last used. By "freezing" I mean that the bottom "mouse" button won't work and thus, I cannot leave the latest used application. At times it will unfreeze and work and then other times it won't. Charging it and syncing it doesn't seem to make a difference. I haven't dropped it or damaged it in any way. HELP!
Have you tried
resetting the iPod yet? To do this, press and hold both the
Sleep/Wake and
Home buttons together long enough until you see the Apple logo appear.
If you are running iOS 4 or later, you should also make sure to close out of Apps you are no longer running. You can do this by double clicking the
Home button to bring up a list of recently used apps. From there, tap and hold your finger on any on of them until you see a small red minus sign appear in the upper right hand corner of each. Go ahead and tap this sign to remove the app from the list. Too many apps in this list can lead to issues like the one you are currently experiencing.
Tried resetting it but it still doesn't get the bottom mouse bottom working.
Are you talking about the
Home button at the bottom of the iPod? The circular shape one?
Have you tried
restoring the iPod yet?
If you are referring to the home button, it could potentially be a hardware related issue. I would recommend taking it in to your nearest Apples store to have it looked at.
Yes, I'm talking about the round Home button. When I click it nothing happens (but once in awhile it will work). I have not tried restoring it yet. That's something I do with it hooked up to the comp right? I will try that and if nothing changes I will take it in this wknd to an Apple store... THANK you!
It might also be possible that there is a bit of dirt, grime, etc that is caught around and underneath the button. It might not hurt to try and clean it using compressed air to blow some of the debris out. Others have stated that rubbing alcohol has worked, but it is a liquid and has the potential to further damage your iPod. Here is a thread with more information on it.
