Kindle App problem

Kindle app worked great so far until yesterday. My iPod Touch has WiFi on, nothing changed as far as settings, I am able to download ebooks from the Kindle store but every time I open the app it says "Sync failed, try again later". It won't sync. Nothing was changed, device is registered to my Amazon account. I'll take iBooks over Kindle App any day but I have some good books on the Kindle app which is why I want to keep it.

This is now January 2016, and I am having th same problem. NO SYNCH. Amazon's support was absolutely awful: while I posted the warning about losing all your data on the CHAT, the dimwit who "helped" me assured me that when I reinstalled my app on my iPad, the books I already had would reappear. No they didn't. I have been in touch with AMAZON for nearly a month and their support is absolutely useless.

On the other hand, I'd love to at least be able to read what I have already purchased. I have heard rumors that Apple is deliberately blocking Amazon books till some sort of agreement is made. In favor of iBooks? Please. I need the maximum access to books for research, work, etc. and iBooks is still just toy-books for the illiterati as far as I have seen.

Anybody got a workaround for this problem?
