white lines through text on whole computer and windows are not aligned.

I have never seen this happen before so it is difficult to describe. I took a couple of screen shots to show it a bit. The cursor leaves trails, text throughout computer has white lines running through them. when I select a folder from the dock it has this weird speech bubble looking arrow on the bottom and when i use Firefox and other browsers there are lines and boxes all over the place. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi wylee the great, and a warm welcome to the forums! 🙂

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for action in Safe Mode, ie. are the lines still there...

PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

Have you blown the dust out lately, especially the PSU & Video card?

Get Temperature Monitor to see if it's heat related...

And/or iStat Pro...

If you have any temps in the 70°C/160°F range, that's likely it.

Thank you very much for the response. I took your advice and booted up in safe mode ,repaired permissions, then i also cleaned the psu and video cards as well as the rest of the computer. The problem still persists. my iStat pro is reading temps of 65f to 120f but my pc is old. Preview crashed on me and i got a peculiar error in the report. It reads " recursive Display All Dirty With LockFocus g5"
any idea what that could be? Well I am hoping it is a software issue and can be resolved via a reinstall. My only problem now is that I no longer have an install disc. I will get one soon and let you know if that works out. In the meantime any other advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
