Has anyone solved this anywhere? I haven't done a thorough search about it but google searches don't turn up much. Using mail, especially, and just after hitting send for a message particularly has the arrow cursor freezing for a few seconds (presumably while it's doing some process in the background). The computer is so fast in other areas it's odd that it would be slow in using mail. I think I also notice the problem using firefox. I'm on a 17" mac book pro from October 2011. The computer is brand new and it has been doing this from the beginning. It may be that it's because I have a very crowded mail application. I have a couple dozen mail folders and a few hundred messages in the inbox.
I had read somewhere that re-indexing the harddrive can help. (To do this you open up preferences > spotlight and then add your HD icon to the "exclude" list, and then remove it. This forces it to re-index the hard drive.) This doesn't seem to have had any effect on my issue.
As a matter of fact, I JUST had the issue now after that sentence. I coujdln't even see the cursor anymore, then it reappeared when I went off the page, and THEN froze for a few seconds. I had console open at the time. It didn't log anything. But by and large it's noticed with apple mail.
