11" Trackpad/Cursor Freeze

I searched but couldn't find any posts discussing this exact symptom. Periodically my two-week old 11" MBA trackpad will stop responding to swipes of any sort. The cursor freezes on the screen. It only happens once in a while (maybe every few hours) and only lasts for about two to three seconds but it's frustrating and I've never experienced that with my older MacBook, my Magic Trackpad, etc. It doesn't seem to be associated with any particular application. I've tried rebooting, etc. but it continues to happen.

Build:

1.6GHz
4GB RAM
128GB SSD
(No Adobe Flash)

Other than that I absolutely love my new MBA!

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing?

11.6" MacBook Air, iPad 3G 64GB, 24" iMac 3.06 and two Mac Minis all w/4GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Maybe a random quesion...

But do any of you own an iPhone or iPad, and if so is it near (under or on top of your trackpad) before your trackpad freezes?

I have found that if I set my iphone or ipad over my trackpad for a few minutes and when I come back my cursor is frozen for a few minutes. It's like the signal messes with the trackpad??

Just curious

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Having no control over my trackpad for up to 10 seconds is not only an annoyance, but it is causing me problems when text chatting with clients, as the conversation is sometimes disrupted by this several times within a 10 minute period.

I'll restate the problem: The trackpad does not respond intermittently, for as long as 10 seconds.

my 13" mac book pro - OS X (10.6.4) is exhibits the same problem....trackpad freezes for a period of time sometime up to a minute or longer. i love this machine, having just moved over from pc. it's a small but annoying issue that i may try to resolve by purchasing a usb wireless mouse. however, if there is a solution i would appreciate an update. many thanks and good luck

Has anyone solved this anywhere? I haven't done a thorough search about it but google searches don't turn up much. Using mail, especially, and just after hitting send for a message particularly has the arrow cursor freezing for a few seconds (presumably while it's doing some process in the background). The computer is so fast in other areas it's odd that it would be slow in using mail. I think I also notice the problem using firefox. I'm on a 17" mac book pro from October 2011. The computer is brand new and it has been doing this from the beginning. It may be that it's because I have a very crowded mail application. I have a couple dozen mail folders and a few hundred messages in the inbox.

I had read somewhere that re-indexing the harddrive can help. (To do this you open up preferences > spotlight and then add your HD icon to the "exclude" list, and then remove it. This forces it to re-index the hard drive.) This doesn't seem to have had any effect on my issue.

As a matter of fact, I JUST had the issue now after that sentence. I coujdln't even see the cursor anymore, then it reappeared when I went off the page, and THEN froze for a few seconds. I had console open at the time. It didn't log anything. But by and large it's noticed with apple mail.
