restore iphone 4 error 1013 and 1611

In the end for me the solution was my wifes macbook. Nothing I tried on my machine worked, but doing the install on her machine, the restoring from a backup on my mine, worked. There was lots of finger crossing as the progress bar crept to the right.

I tried every thing around the hosts file fixes, and none worked.

hi guys,

remove all gs.apple.com (e.g. 127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com) from the hosts file.

then try to restore your iphone (at DFU mode). it works for me ;-)

i i were gay i would b all over u like flies on ****...you just resolved hours of frustration and anger. thank you much...that applications path all over the internet didn't work for me. this finally worked, thanks again..

Hopefully this is helpful to those who tried everything posted thus far but to no avail:

I followed the steps by tony, then used RecBoot 2.2 on my macbook pro when the bar stop progressing, click on "enter recovery mode" in RecBoot, and voila the progress bar started progressing again. iPhone 4 now at 4.3.3

WHat if the file on my PC doesnt have the line gs.apple.com?

i had this problem too. tried everything suggested in this thread and on many others. nothing worked.

today i tried to restore my iphone on a different computer and it worked. so ask a friend to use their computer (possibly someone who already has itunes installed) and restore the iphone. once this is done plug it back into your computer and restore the last back up you created. you will still have all your pics, contacts, apps, etc.. hope it works for you as well!!!

My iphone 3GS is stuck in recovery mode and when I plug it into itunes I get an error 1013 message. There is no gs.app.com line in my host file. All my host file says is:

I see that some people without the gs.apple.com line tried another computer. I'll try that!

This didn't work either. If anybody could please offer a suggestion I'd SO appreciate it.

i dont understand the part where it says

CD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC

NOTEPAD HOSTS

it cant find the drivers\etc through cmd
