restore iphone 4 error 1013 and 1611

I uninstalled iTunes, reinstalled latest version and loaded latest firmware..... No more error 1013!!

@tonyacos you have no idea how much I love you right now, I actually want to cry. Even though your reply is like over a year old it worked for me. My iphone was blocked because of very stupid mistakes I made by trying to jailbreak it and I learned my lesson lol. And I couldnt restore it, 2 whole days downloading and looking up solutions. And then I read this and it's so simple omg. Thanks so much!!

I had the 1013 error, have never Jailbroken my phone.

Udating the firmware casued it to go into recovery mode and got stuck in the 1013 error loop.

Tried editing the Host file, new computer, itunes re-install, different USB port, anti-virus off etc, NOTHING was working.

Just as I was tempted to launch it at some unwitting object/person, cancel my contract and defacate on Apple's porch, I managed to sort it purely by restoring my phone without the sim card in.

No idea why, dont know why i havnt seen it mentioned before either. Hopefully it may help some of you in the same situation.

Dave, Thanks a lot for the information. I followed all the solutions mentioned in the site but none worked whiCh took almost a day.

I removed the sim and was able to update the firmware. No more 1013 error. I really dont understand how the sim Card disturbs the setup.No one has mentioned this solution exCept you. Thanks onCe again. Hats off to you. ACtually I had booked an appointment at the apple store whiCh is an hour drive. Saved time and fuel.

I will never buy an apple product again. I have never had this much trouble with a phone until I bought 2 iPhones. I spent almost $800 for convienence and got nothing but headaches. If you want my sole opinion, I will never purchase another product from a broken corperation again.

i'm using lion, i drag the hosts file to the desktop and and edit it but when i want to move it back to the etc folder after entering my password it says that the operation can't be completed because the "hosts" is in use !! ... what should i do ?
