iPod Touch 2G will not upgrade to iOS4.2

I have iOS4.1 and the wensite shows 4.2 is available, but when I connect to iTunes it displays "Your iPod software is up to date" and shows it has 4.1. How do you get the new update?

I have this problem also, and cannot upgrade to iTunes 10 on my mini G4 Tiger. Is there another way to get my touch 2g up to 4.2?

You could update your iPod on another computer but then your computer with 10,4,11 you not be able to sync with the iPod.
