iphone 4 running iOS4.2 not sorting tv shows correctly

I've upgraded my iphone to the newest os, 4.2. I also have itunes 10.1.

On my phone, tv shows synced from itunes don't sort into separate show sections like they used to in iOS 4.1. So instead of having separate section for (for example) Glee, Lost, and House, with the several shows for each within that section, they all get lumped together in one section labeled with just one of the shows, seeming randomly chosen. For example, all the various shows are now in a section labeled House.

It's not a big problem, as all the shows are still there, but it's odd. FWIW, all the shows are labeled and tagged correctly, as they used to sort correctly. I've also tried deleting everything and resyncing, one show at a time with no change. I'm using the manual managing music and videos method.

Doug's Applescripts link is:
http://dougscripts.com/219

His other very useful one is
Set Video Kind of Selected v3.2
http://dougscripts.com/410
http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=setvideokindofselected
This script will change the video kind property of the selected tracks to your choice of "Movie", "Music Video" or "TV Show". Additionally, "Show Name", "Season Number", and "Episode Number" can also be set or cleared for each selected track.

Idk if someone already posted a solution for this problem, but I fixed my problems.
I simply put the name of the show in the "Artist" field and in the "Show" field under "Get Info"...

An easier, FASTER, way to do this is to
*select all the shows that belong together*
and right click and *"get info"*
and say "yes" to +"Are you sure you want to edit information for multiple items?"+ if it prompts you,
then *check the box* next to "Artist"
and type in the name of the show.
Then click on the *"Video" tab*
and *check the box* next to "Show"
and type the name in again,
then press "OK"

+Depending on the speed of your computer it might take a while to update all the episodes. Re-sync any iOS devices to reflect all the changes you just did.+

Hope this helps clear up some confusion or answer peoples questions if they still have any..

Happy Syncing!
🙂

Copying the Show Name into the Artist field is exactly what Doug's Applescript 'Put This In That' does. I just used it to fix more than 140 shows. Beats doing it by hand.
The Applescript is free from http://dougscripts.com/219
Follow the instructions to drag the files to your [home] > Library > iTunes > Scripts folder. When you start iTunes the new scripts appear under the curly symbol in the menu bar. Select the shows you want to change (Command A for all), click on the script, pick Show Name as the source and Artist as the target and let the Applescript do the rest.
Of course, it would be better if Apple fixed this OS bug.
