Alright, I'm having a frustrating problem I can't fix. I called HP and Apple and they can't seem to fix it.

I have an airplay compatible HP printer (6500 Plus)....it works perfectly from my Macbook, but the only printer my Ipad2 can find is the "printer description/address" that references my "HP fax". However, I do not have a fax line hook up. My ipad cannot seem to find my printer....but it finds the "fax address" associated with it.

I can still print, but it takes about 5 minutes, as if the document is being emailed/faxed.

Any advice on how to fix this? Thanks!

I have a shared printer on my Apple Mac.

I bought an Apple iPad.

From Mail on iPad, I selected the PRINT function.

Clicked "Select Printer"

Saw the message, "Looking for Printers..."

Then saw, "No Printers Found".

Stop right there!!!

What ever happened to the days where software writers were "in touch" with the user! The days when the Messages and Dialog boxes were written for USERS and not PROGRAMMERS.

It would have saved me 10 minutes, if they dialogs would have simply said:

"Looking for 'AirPrint-compatible' Printers..."

The fact is, it was not looking for any printer.... it was looking for a specific printer which is "AirPrint compatible". I would imagine that taking 30 seconds to add that extra information, would have spared thousands, or millions of people, a few minutes each, in their search to discover why printing does work in their home.

This forum is great. Google is also great for looking up technical answers. But the true goal, would be that users wouldn't have to keep coming here more and more frequently.
