AirPlay to Apple TV only sound and no picture to airplay option

Airplay is not working right for me or there is a setting I'm missing.

When I start a movie on my iPad or iPhone and I click the airplay icon it lets me choose between the device itself and the apple tv, however it only is for sound, no video.... Why? This is the same on the iPad and iPhone.

When I click on a picture I don't even get a airplay option at all. This is the same on both devices.

I don't see any setting for this either.

Help

 MacBook Pro;  MacPro; TV;  iPhone 4;  iPod, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

I have updated my new AppleTV. Airplay gives me sound only.
(Airplay is set to "on")
Any other ideas?

Have you updated your iphone/ipad/itunes software, depending on which source you're trying to airplay from?

I used airplay video at Apple with safari.

wsj just updated its app and still only play sound to Apple TV via Airplay

anyone knows if there's a NON-Apple App that support Airplay (video & sound)?

I have the latest update 4.2.1 and only audio is workIng with AirPlay on ANY application. Is anyone else experiencing this???

this is a bug need to fix by apple. i have the exact same issue with airplay. it stop working sometime

Using the free "Remote" app from App Store restores picture.
