AirPlay to Apple TV only sound and no picture to airplay option

Airplay is not working right for me or there is a setting I'm missing.

When I start a movie on my iPad or iPhone and I click the airplay icon it lets me choose between the device itself and the apple tv, however it only is for sound, no video.... Why? This is the same on the iPad and iPhone.

When I click on a picture I don't even get a airplay option at all. This is the same on both devices.

I don't see any setting for this either.

just to add to my post above, I am selecting the AirPlay icon on iPhone/iPad. I am clicking on AppleTV. Then I have to go to the AppleTV at the top of the menu and scroll up to the iTunes icons and I get (on the left) a generic icon which says untitled/unknown and when I click on that I get the sound without video. Something is wrong somewhere, must be me because this is way too awful for Apple to have released. Double checked that AirPlay is on on AppleTV. All are joined to my home network....

same here. All updated. No video, only audio. Used to work fine.

Same here after latest OS update - glad Chromecast still works!

Could be the Apple tv unit needed update - now it works!

Same issue here. I have confirmed Apple TV is fully up to date and I have even restarted my iMac. Still only sound and no video. This is frustrating. Any one have a fix? Is this a bug needing to be fixed from El Capitan? Please help.

i have the same issue, apple whats the problem ???

i did nothing... video streaming from iphone and ipad was always working - the last years.... now - nothing is working anymore....

iOs 9 on Devices and all latest updates done.... No Updates available for ATV2... now i can reset my ATV to hopefully fix that...

apple, i don't wanna say, but please bring JOBS back!

okay, i fixed it!

Audio + Video is working again!

Reset your ATV with iTunes and hopefully it will work for you too!

Plug in your ATV via USB and Power to iTunes, and reset your ATV !

I fixed problems with airplay mirroring by attaching Apple TV (3rd generation) to Macbook Air with a micro-USB cable and using iTunes to restore & download latest version of the software. That seemed to fix the issue.

Unfortunately, my problem did not disappear when I restored my Apple TV.

I sill cannot see pictures (when Mirroring is OFF) or songs thumbnails.
