iPhone 3G better performance on iOS 4.2?

So I didn't know 4.2 was coming today and I downgraded my moms 3G to 3.1.3 yesterday. It's night and day from iOS 4.0 which is what she had. Of course she lost her contact and pics but I can get it back once I update to the newest version. I wanted to know before I updated to 4.2 to see how it's working on everyones iPhone 3G. How's it responding to open safari, settings, apps, texting, emails? Thanks!!!!

Hi,
Just wondering how you downgraded to ios 3. I have ios 4.2 on my iphone 3g and I want to downgrade to 3 something or even 4.1 so I can syc it back up with my powerbook running 4.11 and i tunes 9. I have 10.5.8 and itunes 10 on another machine just to fool around with but didn't realize that 4.2 can't syc up with itunes 9. Any suggestions?

I installed 4.2.1 a week after it was released and I was relieved it didn't make things worse... or so I thought. It basically turned my iPhone into a Phone. Maps don't work well due to problems with data and with the GPS. I tried to update apps from itunes store, I can't get past the password. I now update apps via my desktop (for some reason the same password works there.

I can honestly say I now HATE my iPhone. Apple has cheated us and now won't let us go back to IOS 3. That is the last O/S that was stable on this platform. Apple really owes us all.
