iPhone 3G / Wifi problem / 4.2.1
Has any one same problem?
Help, please)
MacBook Pro 15" (2010), Mac OS X (10.6.5), iPhone 3G (iOS 4.2.1)
MacBook Pro 15" (2010), Mac OS X (10.6.5), iPhone 3G (iOS 4.2.1)
I've got the same problem. Upgraded from 3.1 to 4.2.1, and no longer could establish any wifi connection. It's not the router - I can't find any available wireless connection anywhere. Have tried all the resets. Can't roll the OS backwards. Very frustrated. Is there really no solution to this?
Hey read this:
I also have the same model number mb702ll. This phone is driving me crazy. I've tried every method to get the wi-fi to work. The only thing is soldering method which I will not do.
99.9 is probably accurate since I have another friend with the same model number. Same crap with Wifi.
I seriously want to chuck my phone as hard as i can to these guys whos created this issue on purpose. (for profits)
iphone (designed purposely with many flaws, esp wi-fi)
Please read:
(In regards to the iphone 3, model mb702ll, verision 4.2.1)
For all of you who tried to reset your routers and other fake solutions and rumors that apple has fabricated to all of you to do to fix your wi-fi. IT DOES NOT WORK.
PROOF. I have the phone. My wifi used to work fine until I upgraded that "DEADLY VIRUS LIKE" firmware to 4.2 because apple >>> itunes prompted me to.
TEST:
I happen to have 2 routers and 2 modems from different carriers verizon and clear. I also have an iphone 4, which works fine. However; for the iphone 3, it does not detect any presences of wifi. I've tried every combination/ angle and solutions you can find online.
The freezer method doesn't work either and I've tried that last.
Does anyone have a solution besides running it over with my car 20 times and blend it until its powder?
I really hate how apple purposely won't fix this issue.
Well, I thought the full-discharge approach worked, but it seems it was only temporary. I'm back to no wifi on my iphone 3G 4.2.1. Very disappointing.
I guess we'll just have to keep sending feedback to Apple to get them to figure this out.
this has been an ongoing issue for me for at least 5 months. apple, GET ON THIS.
This has been going on for me for about 1 month. I've tried it all. Still getting a grayed-out "No wi-fi" on my iphone 3G 4.2.1. Just set up an appointment with a Genius at the Apple Store in Emeryville, CA on Monday (Memorial Day). When I called Apple's iphone support, the tech support guy told me he had heard of no such problems at all. I told him the forum was filled with people with this problem. He said he hadn't heard a thing and that he has the iPhone 3G 4.2.1 and his wifi is working fine.
THIS IS SO STRANGE. Is the next iPhone about to launch or something?
I thought I'd use my daughter's old 3GS to mount to our home audio system and listen to Pandora Radio. Connected to itunes, optioned to upgrade to 4.2.1 and after upgrading, no wifi. Been reading the forums, one year old comments are like yesterday's on this wifi issue. Still not finding a fix to restore wifi. I tried every fix suggested on this thread, no luck. I would roll back to something other than 4.2.1 but do not know how.
I, too, have been suffering from this issue. Before updating, I could see more than 12 WiFi routers/access points on my iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPad, and my wife's iPod touch (3rd gen). These are all over the place, including neighbors' houses and a restaurant just behind us. Now, all of my devices show only the access point in my bedroom and not even the one in the kitchen. If I move toward the kitchen, they lose the one in the bedroom and pick up only the kitchen. If I go to just the right place in the house, I can't pick up either.
Now, I KNOW it's not the routers/access points because they wouldn't have all had an issue immediately after the IOS update. Plus, I have laptops and some non-Apple smart phones that still pick up ALL the routers just fine.
This is CLEARLY an Apple issue, and CLEARLY related to the update. As I was updating the devices, I noticed that my iPhone 4 picked up only the bedroom router. But I figured it would see the others shortly. So, I updated my iPad only to find it too saw only the one router that was 10 feet away. Again, I figured they'd populate soon enough and went ahead and updated the other devices. Big mistake. None of the devices EVER saw more than just the very nearest router, and only if it was very close by.
I'm seriously hoping this issue will get fixed FAST. This is a major headache and I end up tethering to my Droid (good old Verizon to the rescue!) when I'm at my daughter's dance studio even though they have WiFi. My iPad just can't see it anymore.
Never again will I blindly trust any Apple update until it's been out for a good while and I've had a chance to really comb through the forums to read about everyone else's heartaches. Thanks Steve!
Let's hope this gets resolved in iOS5, though I'm worried they won't support the iPhone 3G in that update.
Same problem here. It's been about 6 months now and I still cannot connect to wifi, nor does it detect it. Sometimes it might catch a signal, but it never lasts very long. Please fix this!
Same issue, has there been no official response from Apple?
I'm surprised one of the top tech mags hasn't got hold of it?
Really unfair that Apple allows this to continue! They must be aware of the problem. It almost seems intentional since it results after the update & then you cannot update again. Why? And it amazes me since Apple is so good in their service overall.
Since I posted before, I now get emailed when others post on this issue. Thinking others will get my post, is there anything we can do collectively to get their attention? How do you convey that you bought a product, paid to own it and now the maker of it limits how you can use it. At the heart of this issue is a bigger legal concern but hey, I just want my wifi to work!
Apple step up and do the right thing !!!!!!
I have looked up solutions to the grayed out wifi. it says wifi address NA
i have tried to restore, reset network settings, etc.
at one point it started to work. but couldnt connect to wifi. then it went back to grayed out wifi.
but then when i erase all content and settings. it all worked!
I've restored, reset, etc to no avail. I was at the airport in Chicago when suddenly my WiFi became available again. When I landed in San Francisco, it was gone again. NOW I THINK THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH AT&T, MY CARRIER!!
Are you saying your wifi worked after erasing all contents/settings without doing a "restore?"
yea i erased all contents and settings. it restarted and asked how i wanted to set up my phone and i set it up as a new phone. and when i checked my wifi worked and was able to connect to wifi.
