I have a Linksys WRT 110 router - looked under advanced wireless settings - I don't think it gives me that option - maybe I am looking at the wrong thing shaitoni - what does disabling the 802.11n/EWC do anyway - as you can tell - I struggle in this area - I also think that the router is build on 802.11n (technology) - not sure but if there is no option to change wouldn't it make the router uh OLD SCHOOL? All I know is my other Iphone 3g old school works the ipad works- Mac works and my Iphone 3GS is useless without wifi technology - WHY - cause I live out in the sticks - NO 3G - Someone needs to address this from Linksys or Apple - I don't care - IF I need a new router - I hope they inform me this year - would prefer to keep my phone and services as well as my other equipment -

Updated router firmware - tried the switch and nothing - My phone will see wireless networks even mine - but will not connect - would this be a wifi chip issue? - I still see networks to join but can't join any - tried it at Best Buy today - no go - and other hot spots - no go - some feel its a network issue and others feel its a 4.2 issue and others feel its a wifi chip issue - I don't have a clue - thanks anyway for the help -

For me, shaitoni is on the right track. My password was not taking between iPhone and Internet Sharing on G5. So here I am. Following shaitoni's suggestion above, this is what I found...

I click on iPhone's Settings, Wi-Fi, blue arrow for my G5 internet sharing, and saw all the fields were empty (IP Address, Subnet, Router, DNS...).

While I was contemplating what to do, these fields suddenly became populated. This took < 10 seconds.

I suspect that this problem is ultimately a "permissions" problem on my Mac. Under the G5's System Preferences, Sharing, Internet Sharing, the items for choosing what protocol to share, to computers using which protocol, and "Airport Options..." are all grayed out.

I'm fine for now, but will not be able to change my password for Internet Sharing until the grayed out stuff is not grayed out. Permissions are causing a slow death to my G5. Recently, I found that I can't run "Activity Monitor" anymore, no permission. That's another topic, though.
