Same problem here. I see the two WiFi APs in my home, connect to them fine and obtain all the correct IP address, DNS and gateway information, but cannot get any application to connect to the net.

I reset my router, my wireless gateway, double reset my 3GS and still no luck. It obtains and IP address, but goes nowhere!

Come'on Apple, get it right will ya!

i am having the same problem. I installed the new iOS on tuesday and did not really mess with my phone till the next day when i noticed the wifi problem. at first i thought it was my router so i restarted it and my phone connected. then later that day i was at my friends house and could not get wifi there at all. when i got back home once again i could not get wifi on my router so i restarted it again but this time it did not work. since then i have not be able to get my phone to find a wifi network much less join one.
i have tried resetting the network setting on the iphone an went as far to suffer though the 2 1/2 hour restore process and still nothing works.
other than the wifi issue there has been no other problems with the ios... yet.

Boo apple for releasing an ios update that kills wifi on your devises. Do you even test your software before you release it?

If I can suggest that you dot point the steps you took and the order in which you took them so that someone is able to help you resolve the issue. Problem solving is simply a process of eliminating the possible issues. If no one knows exactly what you have eliminated in the process it is quite difficult to help you try and resolve the matter.

Start the download process..
Then..
Then..
Then..
Then..

the other option make an appointment with a Genius and have them connect the device to their WiFi network at least that will eliminate the device.

Ant..

Hi, I'm having intermittent wifi disconnections on both my iPad & iphone4 since the 4.2 upgrade. My network at home, where I broadcast the name, disconnects & is always visible but won't reconnect unless I reboot the device. I've tried forgetting the network & reseting network settings too. At work, where the network name is not broadcast, it's even worse, requiring a hard reset of my device & several attempts to reconnect each time the device goes to sleep. Many times on both networks my devices see the network, ask for a password but then refuse to connect. This is clearly an iOS issue.

I have a iPhone 3G and 4 and an iPad 'delivered in Australia' all have been upgraded to 4.2.1 without any WiFi issues. If you want to eliminate the device as the point of failure go to an Apple Store and have a Genius look into your issue. If you are not near an Apple Store then many Big Mac stores have 'Free' WiFi connections. If you cannot connect at either of those locations then I might be swayed to think that you have a hardware issue. You appear not to have commented on how you have eliminated your router as the issue..

i have iphone 3g MB model. I tried freezer technique, reset network settings and still no wifi. It keeps circling and doesn't scan for any network and if it do manages to find my wireless network it wont connect. Is it hardware problem or software problem? Does anyone have a proper solution for this?

Please help

thanks,
sam
