Wifi Issues

Have you tried power-cycling the router? There have been a number of posts on WiFi issues where people found that turning the router off then on for some reason makes the iPad see it again.

And it probably would not hurt after doing that to go back to the iPad and delete the network and reinstall by hand once more.

Tedious, but seems to help.

Oh, and in Settings > Safari, is Autofil set to OFF? That helps.

I had the same problem. Rebooting the router has solved the slow wifi issue. At least until now!

I have never had WiFi problems on my iPad, but within minutes of updating from 3.2 to 4.2.1, I'm no longer able to connect to WiFi at my work. I get the "Unable to Join" message.

Restarting the router works, but I have a feeling no one's going to appreciate me resetting the router every day. Haven't had an issue with my router at home.

Same here! WiFi used to be perfect, but since updating yesterday it is slow.

What's the solution?

Same with my iPad and the wi-fi's after going to iOS 4.2.1. I updated my wife's iPhone with no wi-fi problems - but one heck of a good music scare (couldn't see music or video on the device after upgrade; had to do several 'uneccessary' syncs to make it visible again). My son refuses to let me update his iPod touch because he's afraid I'll "brick" it.

Apple - I'm a life long supporter and loyal consumer of your products...but this is really testing my patience and brand loyalty!

The same here... After the update to iOS 4.2 my ipad disconnects from Internet after some minutes.
I need to turned off and turned on the ipad Wifi to works again.
And I have also reset my ipad, my pc and my router...
The problem connections remains...

The exact same issues with me as well :-((. Runs really slow and stops working after 5 minutes. Before the update it ran perfect, my iPhone runs perfect on the same network so what's going on. Done the resetting the router and stuff but it makes no difference :-/. My router is a Netgear DG834N and I'm getting about 17 meg download and 1 meg upload with a ping rate at about 20. YouTube is hit and miss aswell, sometimes it loads really quick, sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it just dies halfway through a clip and I have to turn the WiFi off for a bit to get it working again 😟. I use my iPad all the time and this has made it next to useless 😟. Not happy at all :-(((((

My iphone and ipad lost wifi connection completely, even though my mac was still connected and the wifi symbol was solid. I disconnected my cable from my modem and powered it off completely for a few seconds, then reconnected and wifi came back. You may also need to re-enter your network password on your other devices.

I too am having major disconnect issues since last nights upgrade to ios 4.2. I connect fine but get dropped in about 5 min of use. What's up Apple??? You supposedly fixed this? I have never had problems before. How do I go back so I can use it?

Same issue with all 3 of my iPad, seems apple has once again dropped the ball. But fear not my archos android arrives tomorrow. No more waiting on jobs!

Same here. Rebooting the router is a waste of time, you'll get the same affect just by re-connecting your wifi connection on the iPad.

Apple knew there were wifi issues and released the update anyways and is starting to make the big guy look good.

One week then this paper weight is going back.

The same for me. For some hours rebooting the router and resetting network setting make the ipad conneting to the net. Now again down. I tried again with reboot but the connection is unusable! Quite disappointing.

The same here. My ipad loses wifi connection automatically every several minutes after upgrading to 4.2.1.

Same problem here. Using a Linksys E3000 router.
It all worked fine before upgrading to 4.2.1, now it works for about 10 minutes before dropping the connection.
