Wifi Issues

Hey,

Just having major issues with 4.2.1 on the wireless. I can occasionally connect and it will work for 5 minutes and then disconnect. When I attempt to reconnect it will give me "Unable to Join the network"

I've reset in General --> Reset. I've restored 4.2.1 again on my iPad as new.

Other iPads at 3.2 work fine from the exact same location. iPhone 4 (V4.2.1) works on the same spot fine.

Tried WPA and WPA2 encryption. I've done a site survey and put my WiFi spot on the best channel.

Any suggestions?

I have the same problems. I have tested my sons Ipad 4.2.1 and it work perfect on same router. I suspect that my model from April 2010 got soem harware issues that his new model from Sep 2010 dont have. But thats where Apple should go in and advise us what to do.

I think Apple have been on to much pressure to release 4.2 as there were much problems with 4.2 GM that delay the officla release date. Now I have ended up with a useless Ipad!!!

I just returned from a trip to Asia where I had both my iPhone and my iPad. In a number of locations (hotels and hot-spots) my iPhone picked up and operated on the local wi-fi while the iPad would not even locate the net, it others it would find the net but fail to connect. One hotel IT manager told me that this was a routine problem with iPad's and his work around was to "hard code" my IP address into the system, after that it worked just fine. In my group there were 5 iPads - all had the same problem, none of them were upgraded to 4.2 because we all left the US before the upgrade was released.

Anyone now what the real issue is ??

Same problem here. My wifi on the iPad was working fine until i installed ios4 update. The minute I turn the screen off, come back a few minutes later the internet connection is gone and i have to go into settings to switch wifi off and and back on in order for it to work again. Very annoying and time consuming.

Same problem with my iphone now on ios4.
Seriously fed up of having to go into settings 20 times a day. Apple please fix this. thanks

After installing iOS 4.2.1 on my iphone 3G I had very limited wifi connectivity for a while. I had to restart my router for my phone to see the network. But since yesterday my phone will not find any wifi signal at all. I have tried resetting network settings and restoreimg my phone since then and no change. I would like to revert back to the previous iOS to see if that would fix the problem but such things are not supported by iTunes.

Boo apple for delaying the iOS to fix a problem and not fix it.

I believe there seem to be an issue with how the iPad connects to our routers. I tried turning wireless N off from my router so only b/g are working and it seemed to have fixed the issue of constant disconnection which have started becoming a great annoyance.

I haven't tried the reversal with only wireless N only.

So those having wifi issues try changing your wireless broadcast signals.

I'm having terrible issues with my iPad wifi, almost to the point of uselessness. It was great (flawless) before the 4.2.1 update, which ***** because the rest of the update is amazing!

I even went as far as buying a new AirPort Extreme thinking my router (b/g) was too old or something, still not fixed. I've tried about every fix ever posted about this topic, and nothing works. I'm a huge Apple fan and have about a gazillion of their products, but I honestly don't think I could recommend an iPad to a friend with the way this wifi is.

The only thing I haven't tried is setting up a 3G account with AT&T. I have a 3G+Wifi iPad, but I've only ever used the wifi. I read (only in one comment) that someone iPad's not having a 3G account setup were having wifi issues. I don't see how that makes any sense.

Apple, can you please fix this?! My $800 iPad is useless without a fix!

Since upgrading to OS 4 my iPad is "turning off" wi-fi connection by itself randomly. I have to go in settings and click on the wi-fi connection each time to re-enable it. Very very annoying.
Note: it's not "loosing" the connection, it is still there, but it litterally turns the wi-fi off by itself.

It's been about a week now that the upgrade was made available, and Apple hasn't even acknowledge the wi-fi problem, even though thousands upon thousands of iPad owners have been complaining about this from the start!

What the **** is going on at Apple ? Common, make my iPad work like it did on OS 3.2.2 .

Even worst, I wanted to go back to 3.2.2 by doing the restore procedure while holding the option key and choosing the previous OS file in the list, and everything was going smoothly until iTune went checking with Apple for the validity of the old file and came back with a message like: "this file cannot be used to restore the operating system on this iPad" !

Way to go Apple! They won't even let me go back temporarily to a perfectly working OS, and force this buggy crap on us. This is starting remind me of bad experiences with drivers when I was on a PC...
