Text tone swoosh?

I just updated to 4.3.5 on my ip 3gs this weekend and have the same problem now, my phone makes annoying tones when I send texts. I can only mute by turning down volume or go to vibrate.

My phone never made tones on texting since I bought it a year ago. Really HATE this and I have posted on that feedback link on this thread as well.

Did u try switching off the sent mail tab?

Go to settings-> sounds and switch off the sent mail.

It worked for me.

I have that setting turned off and it still makes that swoosh noise.

I'm not sure if this truly works or it's just coincidence, but on yhr ipad2 I changed the side switch function from lock to mute and it seemed to take care of all sounds

HammyHam is correct...on the top lefthand side of the phone, near the outside volume up and down buttons is the little button you slide up and down for vibration. When I slid that down not only is the swoosh sound gone but so is the shutter sound when I take pictures!

Yeah, I have the same problem. Until last night I had no noise the only annoying noise I couldn't shut down was the camara now I have a stupid swoosh noise but I upgraded my software last night. Those of you that have always had the noise did you upgrade to the latest version as soon as you got your phone? As that might explain it. Mine has been running out of the box software for a year with no noise till I upgraded. I have read if you jailbreak and then use the phone like a hard drive you can find the file and deleate it or change its name to silence the camara shutter which I have been trying to do for a while so I guess the same would work for the message swoosh

I can't even believe how idiotic it is that this is not a preference. It is an incredibly irritating noise. I have the option of constantly toggling to silent or being about to have a stroke with that nasty *** noise every time I send a text... Outrageously ridiculous. How it could be forgotten is incredible. The apple software is always such ****. Going to have to crack it I guess.

I wouldn't have bought the iphone if I had known it would make a sound everytime I send a text. Why on earth would anyone want a sound for a sent message? I am well aware that I sent the message.

Go to Settings > Sounds > Keyboard clicks and set it to "Off". It work hehey🙂
