Can't open iPhoto after upgrading to 11

I have just bought a new Mac Mini and have loaded up the iPhoto supplied with all my photos. I have just intsalled iPhoto '11 and now I get a message as follows:

"In order to open iPhoto, you need to update to the latest version. Please run Software Update to imstall it now."

As I have just installed the latest version I am a bit concerned about my photos and using the software. I have checked and all the other iLife updates - iMovie, etc. are all working fine.

Can anyone help here?
Thanks
David

I've had this same problem, it didn't show any update in Software Update so I had to seek out this forum, find that update and install it for it to launch.

My question is: how do I know this won't happen again if there's another update? Will I have to google for the update files since Software Update doesn't show it? What if I don't want to update?

I had the same problem... and stumbled upon the solution. You need to find, download, and install the iPhoto 9.1 update. For some reason, "Software Update" does not find it.

There is also a 9.1.5 update... and maybe others... who knows?

Once this is installed, run "Software Update" and you will be informed magically that there is new software for

iPhoto. Download that (takes about 15 minutes). It will ask you if you want to upgrade your library, warn you

that you can't go back etc. Accept the library upgrade, and in a few minutes iPhoto will work again.

All the stuff about fixing permissions and library manager software etc... sounds like a likely story at best.

My guess is someone forgot to code the 9.1 iPhoto update to work with Software Update, creating months of aggravation. I hope this helps.
