iOS 4.2 Still NO Fix for USB Car Audio (AVN726E)

With the Release of iOS 4.2.1; I rushed to update hoping that it would fix my USB to Car Audio, but it doesnt, what exactly is Apple trying to accomplish by removing functionality..

I own an Eclipse AVN726E which I've come to learn is also the system that Toyota/Lexus uses in some of their vehicles..

Granted I can play audio through the Bluetooth Audio selection but then the devices doesnt charge..

I plug in my iPhone 4 and it just hangs on "Reading..."

Does anyone have any ideas or anything that I can try to make this work..
Or is this all in the hands of Apple..

Shane, I had this problem when I first got my iPhone 4. My iPod Nano worked flawlessly with my stereo, but when using my iPhone 4, it would just constantly hang at "Checking" (what I assume to be the equivalent to your "Reading...").

I was able to get around this by sort of jump starting my iPhone. I'd disconnect my iPhone, go to the iPod app, start the music by either hitting shuffle or a specfic playlist, and while playing then attach it to my stereo. It's still a little buggy, but it works 80% of the time.

Hope this helps.

Not to throw more fuel on the fire here, I honestly believe its actually Eclipses responsibly. They write the firmware to be compatible for the components that plug into the Head Unit. And, since they are now out the aftermarket industry... chances are its not that important to them to update with new iOS in mind? Shame really - I enjoyed many good functions prior to this update.
I always have bluetooth - just noe song titles.

My fingers are crossed they'll support it as time goes on- it was an extremely popular HN when it was released and still kicks ***. But yes, it takes a bit more finagling now.

Try this for proof Apple messed up the latest update for Ipod Touch anyways;

I'm no tech head but it looked pretty obvious to me;
1. I just purchased a new Toyota Corolla 2011 with a USB port for Ipod.
2. My wife and I happen to own 2 Gen3 Ipod touch
3. My Ipod has the latest version of firmware 4.2.1 (8C148)
4. The other Ipod has firmware 3.1.2 (7D11)- I never kept this one updated

I try to connect my Ipod with the latest firmware to the car - No success, I get this message "Load" nothing else

I try the Ipod with the old version 3.1.2 (7D11)- No problem what so ever, connection straight away.

Conclusion - Stay well away from the updating, and where can we get the old version.

Since 4.2.1 update, the AVN726E in my Nissan X-trail also hangs on 'Reading...' when connecting iPhone 3G via USB. A suggested fix is to press AVN726E RESET BUTTON but this only deletes AVN726E phone book which are a major pain to upload. If Eclipse/AVN726E claims Apple compatibility, perhaps they should be providing a firmware update to suit iOS4 although Apple seems to be at fault as it was working & now doesn't.
I will be contacting Eclipse / Fujitsu to see if there is an update; either way, a fix is needed!
