iPad Backup Issues

Ever since Monday I've been trying to update my iPad but it has to backup first and this is what the problem is.
I've transferred purchases, I don't have any magazine apps, I am using the 'rounded' connector cable, and have iTunes updated. Yet, It's been backing up for about 13 hours now and isn't even close to halfway, about half an inch so far.
Please help, I've tried everything!

P.S.- I've tried both connector cables, old and new. I have about 36 apps.

I do not have a solution. Turning off automatic backup is not a "solution". Apple can sell millions of iPads - but can't resolve this issue for users. That is flat out a disgrace and Apple should be ashamed.

And millions of people have absolutely no problem at all. the fact that you do not have a solution is not a surprise.

You signed up to just rant then ?

Anyway, back to the OP.

Have you got any media storage Apps such as fileMagnet ?

Vimeo ?

Any newspapers of any kind such as Huffington Post ?

Any comics ?

These can be file hogs.

The simple solution is to remove all the Apps that you can until the problem goes away and then add them back one at a time until the problem recurs, in which case you know which one it is.

Let us know how you get on.

Same issues here. I've tried this 4 times so far. Very frustrating. I'll try deleting most everything and try again, I can't get past the backup and just haven't done it for a long time. On top of that when it synced my bought on Ipad apps back to PC it got to end and said couldn't complete because the Ipad disconnected LOL. However, they all appear to be in Itunes so I'm not going to worry about that.

Think I will wait until tonight since the backup takes so long (maybe not as long if I take all my news apps off plus Zinio-already off). The download is complete and last time I tried it went directly to backup for installation. Hope I have better luck this time. i have another Ipad to upgrade on another computer too but my husband doesn't have many apps.

I was hoping we had more in common...... but we have very different Apps loaded.

Its not iBooks, Calculator or Flixter Apps as they are okay on mine.

Sadly it may have to be a process of taking them all off and loading then one at a time, and resyncing each time.

My bet would be that it will be one of the HD media ones simply by size. If you have a look in the iTunes library Mobile applications folder, you will see their App sizes so i would start off small and work up and see where the stuttering starts.

Its also possible there is some bad data associated with an App that is hogging space.

I deleted a number of news apps, Zinio and backup and install finally completed after several hours--6th try. This is a 64wifi. I upgraded a 32 wifi on another computer at same time and it went very well. I had deleted Zinio before that upgrade which was the only one on that Ipad that I thought would cause issues. It appears that apps with a lot of data uploaded will cause problems. I reinstalled all my deleted apps, made my folders and am enjoying it agwin.
