Disabling Adobe Reader X Plug-In

I have always enjoyed Safari's ability to open PDFs natively without requiring a plug-in. I recently installed Abobe Reader X, and now it is the default plug-in for PDFs. I have tried to disable this in Reader's preferences, but the checkbox is grayed out. Is there a preference, or Terminal trick I can use, or should I downgrade my version of Reader back to 9.4?

Hi there,

i know that answering to your issue after 2 years may sound like a joke but i heave the answer because i just experienced the same problem.

So even if i'am sure that you already fixed your problem, i post my solution for other people that may have problems in future 🙂 .

Just one right click on our PDF file, go to "Get info" and on the "open with" option choose "Perview" and than click on "Modify all".

Hope it was useful and sorry 4 my english.

The voices may not be correct because i'm italian and my Mac is in italian language, but i hope you can understand.

Cheers!
