iOS 4.2.1 - can't sort events anymore in Photos app?

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.1, and I'm using iTunes 10.1 and iPhoto '11 (9.1) on OS X 10.6.5.

In iPhoto on my computer, I have Events sorted newest to oldest, and it showed up that way on my iPhone before the iOS 4.2.1 update. Since updating, Events will only stay sorted oldest to newest, and no matter what I try (changing sort order and back in iPhoto, syncing in between changing sort order, restarting iPhone, etc...) I can't seem to get my iPhone to reflect the sort order that shows in iPhoto.

Is anyone else experience this problem? And more importantly, has anyone found a fix for this? I don't understand why iOS 4.2.1 would break photo sorting if there were no changes made to the Photos app.

Has anyone found a solution to this yet? Or did Apple just decide everyone gets oldest-first and that's that?

Yikes. You're actually suggesting that you throw away ALL individual photo time stamps in order to provide a work around to an Apple oversight on sorting events. This is simply ridiculous. May we should all have the same birthday so that we can be sorted by name? Gimme a break.

This is an Apple problem that they have acknwowledge in my repeated phone calls... I greatly dislike having to use the British Museum algorithm to find photos within alphabetized events. A retrograde Windows-like time wasting situation in a modern digital era. Unacceptable from a company like Apple.

Does anybody have a real solution?

EASY EVENTS SORTING SOLUTION BELOW

After many months of struggling to sort "events" properly, I finally figured out how to correct the problem (actually by accident)...adding "faces" from your iPhoto software to your iOS device(s). You do not need to name all of them, just one face will do so that it adds the "faces" section into your photos app on your iOS device.

This past weekend I started naming the faces in my iPhoto library and then did an iPhone/iPad sync via iTunes. Then, after looking at the "events" section of the photos, VOILA, all the events were sorted properly as I have them in iTunes.

This is obviously a bug within iTunes, but needless to say, I am a very happy camper now that this "workaround" fixes the problem. Hopefully, this works for the rest of the community.
