Email folders and collapsing them

Hello,

I am sure this may of been posted before but I cannot find a post relating to this.

Within my email I have 100+ folders (through exhange 2003) and they are all fully expanded, is there a way to collapse them as it is a real pain scrolling through them all. Is it a feature missing from the iPhone or a problem with the version of exchange.

thanks

I can't believe we're on iOS 8.1 and they still refuse to add such a simple feature as collapsible folders in their iOS mail client. It's such a basic feature! I luckily have an iPhone 5c for my personal use and a Samsung Galaxy S5 for work use and love that Samsung's default client includes collapsible folders.

It's things like this that I got my wife to purchase a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 instead of an iPhone 6, and she loves it compared to my iPhone.

I bought eMailGanizer one month ago, and I have never managed to get it work with my IMAP email account, hosted at the French telecom operator 'Free.fr'. During the initialization, when it tries t get the emails from the server, it shows up an "unknown error" after 30 seconds.

The eMailGanizer support has tried to help me, but no success so far.

My configuration:

- IMAP server

- around 2000 subfolders

- around 900 MB of emails

This is insane to me, how this has been an issues since day 1 for iPhone and its never been fixed. All we need is the ability to collapse a folder, not solve world hunger. We shouldn't be forced to buy an app (for 9.99$ which would be the most expensive app I've ever purchased and I have several iDevices) which might or might not work. Pretty terrible apple. Do something about this...we are on iOS 8.1.1 now. You have added all kinds of useless and much more complex features into the system and yet still no email organization. Every single android device I've tested in the past few years has had infinitely more email organization options than iOS does.

Still waiting here as well. I switched from BlackBerry to iPhone 2 years ago and this has been my biggest frustration all along. My company doesn't support Android for security concerns or I'd have gone that route. They also don't allow us to use other apps available on iPhone. so the native ios Mail app is my only option. The only alternative is to switch back to BB. That's somewhat tempting since BB was way beyond this issue many years ago. In fact, BB was able to anticipate which folder I'd most likely file each note in and suggest that first (based on prior emails in the conversation chain... or maybe even just by the topic and keywords). It was very intuitive and automated, but I also had the basic option to collapse folders and find it myself if needed. C'mon Apple Get with the times and stop ignoring your customers!!!

This is really frustrating, I am coming to the iPhone with an open mind after being a dual BlackBerry and Android user. I switched the BlackBerry to the iPhone for work, I mostly use the iPhone for email, I can't believe that basic functionality hasn't been implemented after years of people requesting it.

In this case I don't care "why" they don't have an obvious way. I would be happy if someone from apple show us HOW to search for emails in folders.

This was annoying me too and here is what I did as a temporary solution: (1) somewhere in the middle of mailboxes list, where name of your email account shows in gray (mine says HOME in screenshot); look for the gray arrow to the right. The arrow pointing down shows all folders. Click on the arrow to make it point to the right > and folders are collapsed.

Then if there are some folders that you do want to see: (2) Top right of mailboxes screen, click EDIT and then scroll down and click "Add Mailbox." Go to appropriate email account and choose a folder(s) that you DO want to see. Click done. It brings you back to mailbox home, then click Done at the top right.

Clicking EDIT at the top right also allows you to check or uncheck default folders that you want to hide or show. Hope it helps.
